The fact is that not all types of mold are similar. Some types of mold are just a nuisance and/or lower the aesthetic appeal of your home. However, other types of mold can be dangerous. These types of mold that may be a real threat to your health are called toxigenic molds. It is important that toxigenic mold be removed as soon as possible.

There are a number of misconceptions about the popular perception of toxigenic molds and how dangerous this type of mold is. This is partly because of the scientific explanations of mold are both technical and complex. STACHYBOTRYS

Stachybotrys chartarum can expose some to mycotoxins. This may lead to bleeding in the lungs, vomiting, nausea, chronic coughing, sneezing, vomiting, fever, headaches, chronic fatigue, irritations to the throat, nose, mouth, mucous membranes of the mouth, and eyes.

PENICILLIUM

More than a hundred Penicillium species exist. However, only two out of those hundred are truly dangerous to us. Penicillium Aurantiogriseum can lead to the production of mycotoxins. Mycotoxins are dangerous pathogenic toxins that can cause a number of neurological diseases. Penicillium marneffei can lead to, skin, kidney, lung, liver, and soft tissue infections.

CLADOSPORIUM

This allergenic black mold is problematic for people that are sensitive to it. It is known to trigger an allergic reaction. Even though Cladosporium is rarely pathogenic, there is evidence of it causing pulmonary infections and sinusitis (inflammation of the sinuses). If Cladosporium is not removed from the home in time, and the person suffers prolonged exposure, these problems may turn into respiratory infections such as pneumonia.

CHAETOMIUM

More than eighty different variations of the Chaetomium mold exist. Medical studies have linked prolonged exposure to Chaetomium to irreversible neurological damage. Chaetomium is especially problematic because it grows quickly. Unless dealt with early, Chaetomium may increase the chances of having certain forms of cancer, lupus, and multiple sclerosis.

ASPERGILLUS

There are more than 160 species of Aspergillus fungus. However, only the Aspergillus fumigatus and Aspergillus flavus have dangerous, pathogenic properties. Both those types of mold produce Aflotoxins, a dangerous carcinogenic toxin that has been linked to triggering allergic reactions and causing damage to the brain, heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver.
